PDF-R
FlexRay Protocol Decode and SI Analysis Software
(Datasheet)
Engineers participating in designing
and integrating in-vehicle network can monitor
protocol information in hexadecimal and decimal
formats of a FlexRay signal. Engineers can analyze
the electrical characteristics of FlexRay signal
using the eye diagram, time interval error and
sync measurements with a Windows-based Tektronix
oscilloscope and the FlexRay Protocol
decode and signal integrity analysis software.

PDF-R FlexRay Protocol decode and
Signal Integrity software offers the best solution
in the industry for debugging and testing FlexRay
signals using high performance Windows- based
Tektronix DPO7000/70000 series oscilloscopes.
This software enables the designer to capture
thousands of FlexRay messages and display the
decoded data. The PDF-R FlexRay decode feature
allows the designer to configure and view the
decoded data in hexadecimal and decimal formats
. Overlapping (or Overlaying?) the decoded data
with the waveform viewing it simultaneously will
enable a designer to locate inaccurate signal
transitions.
Signal Integrity:
In an automobile, electronic equiments should
work under extreme operating conditions. To ensure
this performance, FlexRay signals at the physical
layer should have enough design margins with respect
to worst case design specifications.
PDF-R Software’s signal Integrity feature
helps in quickly analyzing the electrical characteristics
of a FlexRay signal. Advanced features like Eye
diagram analysis, time interval error, and sync
measurements enables the designer to know the
eye opening, jitter, and synchronization sequence
in a FlexRay network.
Advanced Debug Capabilities
The powerful PDF-R software enables the designer
to locate the cause of the problem using advanced
analysis capabilities. The software- based trigger
features enables the designer to focus on desired
FlexRay information to locate a problem. The eye
diagram is plotted using all the acquired FlexRay
frames. The blue color eye diagram is for the
selected frame in decode table helps in understanding
eye opening for each FlexRay frame. view of an
eye-diagram for a selected frame and for the entire
data helps in locating the problem to a node.
A simultaneous view of decoded data and the waveform
in different colors helps to locate protocol decodes
problems caused by the electrical characteristics
of signals.
Features: Protocol Decode
• Converts time domain waveform
information into data domain and displays the
contents in FlexRay message format
• Simultaneous waveform and decoded data
display in a single window allows efficient debugging
• Ability to link any FlexRay frame or any
message (data or address) to the waveform allows
efficient analysis of FlexRay communication
• PDI waveform window plots the waveform
and displays ‘1’ and ‘0’
annotation in the zoomed waveform window
• Search function helps in locating the
specific data or address in thousands of decoded
FlexRay messages
• Timestamp with reference to trigger position
allows users to know the time from the trigger
position
• Software-based trigger enables the user
to view decoded data
• Software trigger enable the user to set
a trigger on the content of a FlexRay frame, Null
frame or a sync frame, or CRC error
• Offline analysis using Ref waveforms,
.wfm (Tektronix oscilloscope’s internal
waveform file format) and csv files.
• Capability to save the decoded messages
in CSV format.
Features: Signal Integrity
• Ability to view the eye diagram for a
selected message with the complete acquired data
helps in pinpointing the cause of
the problem
• Time interval error analysis for each
frame helps in understanding the influence of
oscillator stability in each FlexRay
node
• Sync measurements enable the user to know
the time lapsed between the sync frames
• Average bit time measurement
